HIZEN 肥前 is the old name of the region (now Saga and Nagasaki Prefecture) known to be the birthplace of Japanese Porcelain ware. It is also officially registered as a Japan Heritage.

Spread out in multiple hill villages are historic porcelain and stoneware kilns since the 17th century, managed by various clans guarding each's unique style and techniques, all demonstrating exceptional artisanship.  Kilns still hold their pride in producing work of highest quality for Royal family commission to international exports.  Many may already know Arita, Imari and Hasami for their historic and global reputation in porcelain work.

Using Arita as base, Taketombo focuses our collaboration with smaller local kilns and less-traveled villages in the region which are of equal importance in history and as representation of Japanese pottery.

Come experience both traditional and new emerging energy of the region with or network of artisans.
